College Rules

Conduct

The main objective is to inculcate the habit of scholarly reasoning, promote ethical standards, moral values, and excellence in educational standards, while maintaining social harmony on the campus. All students are expected to follow and strive to achieve these objectives and behave in a manner befitting an Arts and Science college student. Any student found to be acting directly or indirectly for the breach of these objectives would be punished accordingly.

Discipline

The Principal of the institution shall take any appropriate action as deemed fit to protect and maintain general discipline, prestige, and standards of the college. All such decisions are final and binding on the students.

All students of the college are expected to behave politely with both teaching and non-teaching staff, and maintain the cleanliness of the college premises.

General Guidelines

  • All candidates who secure admission in the college are deemed to have agreed to all the rules and regulations, given here un- der and such other rules and regulations as to be added, or amended from time to time. The college gives utmost priority for discipline and every one, student or staff, is bound to follow the rules and regulations of the college and maintain strict discipline.
  • Students admitted in this college, will have to give an undertaking that he/she will not involve in any sort of ragging or in- disciplinary act. If involved, he/she is liable to be punished accordingly.
  • The degree students must necessarily wear the prescribed uniform. College uniform is compulsory on all days including examinations, special classes, college union related programmes, co-curricular activities, study tours etc.
  • All the students should speak in English in the class rooms as well as in the college campus. They should maintain punctuality and decorum of the college.
  • Students should not stand in corridors/ near bike stand for gossiping. Students should not sit on the parapet walls, railings, steps or stair-cases. Loitering in the corridors or in the campus during college working hours is strictly prohibited.
  • Students should put up a minimum attendance of 75% in all subjects of the year/semester, as laid down by Calicut University. Students, falling short of 75 % of attendance shall not be allowed for the university examinations at the end of the semester. Those who have shortage of attendance shall not be promoted to the next semester of study.
  • A certificate of appreciation will be awarded to those students who secure 100% overall attendance in a semester course Students should attend all Seminars, Guest Lectures, and Training Classes organised by the college. Attendance will be given for all these activities.
  • Students should maintain strict discipline inside the class rooms as well as in the college campus. They should keep the class rooms/college campus neat and tidy.
  • Any suggestions or grievances of the students can be brought to the notice of the authorities through suggestions boxes, keptin the departments.
  • Students should be punctual to the classes. They will not be permitted into the class 5 minutes after the commencement of the class.
  • Triple riding on two wheelers is strictly prohibited in the road near the college campus.
  • Mobile phones, cinematic dance and fashion show shall not be allowed inside the college campus. Violating these rules will meet with disciplinary action. A fine of Rs. 500 will be levied for the use of mobile phones. Mobile phones with camera will be confiscated.
On the basis of the orders issued by various authorities, including the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala (WP (c) 23377/09), the use of mobile phones in the college campus is strictly prohibited. A fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed on violators, and mobile phones with cameras will be confiscated.

Prohibited Activities

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited on the college campus.
  • Names, slogans, and the sticking of posters or pamphlets on number plates or vehicles is prohibited.
  • Students must wear identity cards with tags and show them when requested by staff.
  • Students must not leave the classroom without permission from the teacher or until the class is over.
  • Students should park their vehicles only in designated areas.
  • Unauthorized persons are not allowed on the college campus.
  • Damaging or breaking college property will result in severe punishment.
  • Strikes and demonstrations are prohibited and will result in suspension.
  • Students are not allowed to organize meetings, entertainment programs, or collect money within or outside the campus without the Principal's permission.
  • Criticizing or abusing girl students in foul language is strictly prohibited.
  • Personal functions such as birthday celebrations within the campus are not allowed.
  • Students must not roam in the campus during class or lab hours.
  • Students are not permitted to visit nearby hotels or bars during class hours.
  • Students should spend their free time in the library or reading room.
  • Disturbing the class or causing mischief will result in expulsion from the class.
  • Students are expected to behave respectfully with staff, other students, and the general public.
  • Misbehavior of any kind will be dealt with severely by the college authorities.
The conduct of students should be exemplary both within and outside the college premises to maintain the college's image and status.

Disciplinary Actions

  • Students must pay prescribed tuition fees and other specified fees. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of admission.
  • No portion of the fees will be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Original certificates (including Transfer Certificate) will only be issued after clearing all dues.
  • Under disciplinary rules, the Principal has the power to impose the following punishments: fine, loss of term certificate, suspension, compulsory issue of Transfer Certificate, or expulsion.
Students involved in any violation of these rules will face strict disciplinary actions. Punishments may include fines, suspension, or expulsion depending on the severity of the offense.

General Conduct and Policies

The college aims to foster an environment of good conduct, discipline, and academic excellence. These policies are set to maintain the standards and to promote a healthy learning environment for all students.

Conduct Certificate

Conduct certificates will not be issued as a matter of course. It must be earned through the student’s good conduct. Promotion to a higher class, selection for university examinations, and the issuance of progress, attendance, and conduct certificates are under the absolute discretion of the Principal. The Principal’s decision is final and cannot be appealed to any other authority.

Campus Behavior and Activities

  • Students are prohibited from listening to music from any device on the college campus.
  • Photography, video recording, and audio recording within the campus are strictly prohibited unless authorized by the Principal.
  • Programs within the college can only be covered by authorized individuals appointed by the Principal.
  • Students are prohibited from using or keeping alcoholic drinks or drugs. Violation of this rule will lead to immediate expulsion from the college and hostels.
  • No student shall arrange functions in the college campus without the prior permission of the Principal.
  • Defacing walls, pillars, bathrooms, furniture, or blackboards is prohibited. Students will be held accountable for damages to college property, with costs charged to the responsible individuals in addition to disciplinary action.
  • Students must switch off fans and lights when leaving classrooms to conserve energy.
  • Classroom furniture should not be moved or displaced.
  • The Principal or disciplinary committee members have the right to deny admission to students in classrooms, office, labs, libraries, cultural programs, and other events if they violate the college dress code.
Discrimination against any community or category of students is strictly prohibited. Immediate stringent action will be taken against students, officials, or faculty members involved in such activities.

Security and Visitors

  • Outsiders, including police and media personnel, are not allowed to enter the campus without the Principal's permission.
  • Security personnel and designated college staff are authorized to inspect vehicle records at the college entrance and register the details of vehicles entering the campus.
The Principal holds the authority to issue a Transfer Certificate (TC) to any student without an application from the student or guardian at any time during the course, without giving any specific reason.
