The Department of English is one of the major departments of MIC Arts and science College. It offer popular programme namely BA English Language and Literature. The faculty of department teach English in all other departments of the college. BA in English Language and Literature is in un aided sector with a legacy of 11 years, having an intake capacity of 50. At present eleven well-qualified and dedicated faculty are working in the department. It has a number of alumni who decorate many apex positions in the academic and nonacademic posts at various institutions and organizations. It promotes interactive methodologies with a special focus on the enhancement of the linguistic and literary sensibilities of the students. The department specializes in a variety of literary traditions: literary theories, Indian writings, different aspects of English Language Teaching including LSRW skills and different genres of creative writing. It has a special interest in showcasing the creative genius of students in both writing and performing arts. fast.
A plethora of activities like Literary Fest, Erudite Lectures, Seminars and Workshops, Film Fest, Debates, Community Extension Programmes,Quizzes, ASAP etc are carried out every academic year. The Bachelor of Arts programme in English consists of a coursework of six semesters. A student is required to have a minimum of 75 per cent attendance in each semester. Each semester consists of five courses including Common, Core, and Complementary courses. The complementary courses offered are Political Science and Journalism.
